"Kung Fury": Sub-Hollywood’s Next Shiny, Glorious POS.

August 5th, 2014

With “Sharknado 2: The Second One” in all of our wakes (no pun intended, even though that was killer), many people who have viewed the film have been indoctrinated into the magical world of B-movies! An artform that emerged from decades past, with its roots deeply embedded in the horror genre, B-movies have made a serious comeback in the past few years in a BIG way. Hopefully, many of you B-movie buffs out there will appreciate what I am about to share.

“Kung Fury” is a film concept that has been circulating on the web for about a year (if I recall correctly) and in that time, it has gotten the attention of many communities, Reddit being one of the more affluent groups to take notice of its beautifully awful concept. With a few posts on Vimeo, Youtube, and Reddit, this movie makes “Snakes on a Plane” look like “The Godfather.” It appears to be so viciously bad that it actually looks...really AWESOME!

So here is the premise: Hot-headed, kung fu master cop quits the force and decides to play by his own rules. What better adversary to go after than Hitler, himself? Cop consults hack friend who tries to “hack” him into the past, but hacks him too far back to a land of dinosaurs, viking babes, and lightning gods! Now that I have your attention about this movie, you can find out more about this glorious project at this dormant kickstarter site.

It appears that the kickstarter has long been inactive, but it’s still a cool site to visit. It shows how badly people wanted this movie to be made. There certainly was a lot of money donated to the cause, which is fantastic for an independent, publicly funded film project. As Always, happy viewing and SOUND OFF in the comments section below!
