An Acid Trip in Film Form: Terry Gilliam’s New Film!

July 11th, 2014

Many of you already know who Terry Gilliam is, but for those of you who don’t...he is a true pioneer of the last century of film and visual art. Besides his well known work with the wildly popular British comedy troupe, Monty Python (Monty Python Animation), Mr. Gilliam has also been the mastermind behind several experimental films. Known for his visually stimulating style, Gilliam has captivated audiences with works such as Twelve Monkeys, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, Brazil, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, to name just a few of his films.

His latest work has been in development for a short while, but it looks like a classic Gilliam film that will test the mental capacity of his niche audience. The Zero Theorem looks like it will be built upon a futuristic, dystopian scenario (much like Twelve Monkeys) that has been mixed with a bleak view on the exploration and comprehension of the meaning of life (like The Matrix, or Being John Malkovich). Whatever the outcome of this film is, it looks like the visual/film manifestation of a full-on, ego-death acid trip...with VIDEO GAMES!?! Check out the trailer for yourself below. Here’s hoping that Gilliam’s work is appreciated. I know I will certainly check it out! Don’t forget to SOUND OFF in the comments section below.

As always, happy viewing.
